Youliana is a supportive and enthusiastic physiotherapist with a keen interest in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy and is currently completing her Masters in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy. She aims to provide a thorough and comprehensive assessment that guides her treatment in collaboration with patients. She uses a range of different treatment modalities including patient education, soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, dry needling and exercise prescription. Youliana has a keen interest in treating hip, shoulder and ankle pain. She not only works closely with orthopaedic surgeons, sports physicians and medical professionals to optimise patient outcomes, but also with elite athletes. Youliana recently returned from the World Cheerleading Championships in the USA looking after athletes from Melbourne Cheer Academy. Alongside her colleagues, she has provided clinical supervision to Medical and Physiotherapy students from La Trobe University, ACU, Swinburne University, Melbourne University and Monash University to name a few. Away from the clinic, Youliana enjoys playing tennis, going for bike rides, taking her dogs for walks and trying all the different coffee shops Melbourne has to offer.
Our senior physiotherapist, Associate Prof. Amir Takla, has created the Takla – O'Donnell Protocol (TOD) and has presented internationally for the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA). Amir is a sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist with considerable experience in treating musculoskeletal conditions. After graduating from the University of Melbourne 1997, he successfully completed a Masters of Physiotherapy (Manipulative therapy) in 2000. Over the past 23 years, Amir’s extensive experience includes chief physiotherapist for the High Performance Centre Gymnastics program in Victoria (1999 – 2009), the Australian team in two world championships (Gymnastics Australia) and volunteer physiotherapy Sydney 2000 Olympics, Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth games. Amir has provided physiotherapy services to Tennis Australia for the Australian Open for the past 18 years, and has travelled for over 9 years with top 10 international tennis players on the ATP and WTA circuit. Amir has been involved heavily with Hip Arthroscopy Australia (HAA) since 2008 alongside Prof John O’Donnell who has been a major contributor and educator for the assessment and treatment of hip pathology. Amir has been the chair of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA) Physiotherapy subgroup since 2011, and has presented internationally including Munich, Cambridge, Madrid and Wawrick. Amir has several areas of special interest with Hip femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) and rehabilitation. Amir enjoys his family time especially with his young son travelling to Europe and Russia.
Michael is a Senior Physiotherapist with greater than 12 years of clinical experience across both musculoskeletal conditions and orthopaedic rehabilitation. Recently, he was sought out by Tennis Australia to provide exclusive Physiotherapy to former World Number 1 and Australian Open winner Viktoria Azarenka during a recent Australian Open campaign. He is renowned for making difficult diagnoses, designing strengthening programs as well as using all tools such as mobilisations, deep tissue massage and Dry Needling to achieve fast results for his clients. Michael has also participated in research surrounding Hip Arthroscopy for a decade and travelled at the request of the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy to present lectures in overseas conferences, most recently in Chile. He was a clinical supervisor for Masters and Bachelor of Physiotherapy students from Bond University, Melbourne University, ACU University respectively and Swinburne University. Michael has designed countless strength programs and using specialised strength testing equipment to help patients build strength, and is currently collecting data in conjunction with one of Melbourne’s leading Universities surrounding a rehabilitation program for Procedures for complex Lumbar Spine problems. In addition to rehabilitating patients following Surgery Michael consults for Orthopaedic Surgeons designing Rehabilitation protocols for their procedures to be distributed to the Physiotherapy Community. Whilst not treating patients, Michael enjoys Running, Hiking and chasing his kids.
David is a passionate and experienced senior Physiotherapist in the management of all musculoskeletal conditions and orthopaedic rehabilitation. He is well known for his thorough assessment and supportive demeanour; utilising a multi-modal approach to treatment; including patient education, manual mobilisation, soft tissue work, dry needling and exercise prescription. He has a keen interest in postural neck and shoulder pain, as well as hip and knee pain; and works in conjunction with numerous experienced orthopaedic surgeons and medical professionals. David has had the opportunity to work with multiple local football and soccer teams as a lead physiotherapist, including Research Football Club and the Bulleen Lions Soccer Club with numerous National W-League players; as well as a preferred provider for corporate companies for a fast stream return to work management. As well as a clinical director and senior partner, he is also a clinical supervisor for medical students and Master/Bachelor of Physiotherapy students from Bond University, Melbourne University and ACU University respectively. When not working in or on the business, David enjoys watching and playing basketball, travelling the world with his wife and kids, and volunteering in his local parish and community.
Peter is the Co-founder and Director of Super Foot Podiatry. Peter began his career in Podiatry after completing a Bachelor of Applied Science and Masters of Podiatric Practice at La Trobe University. He holds a particular interest in lower limb biomechanics and the management of various musculoskeletal conditions. Peter has spent a number of hours alongside Podiatric Surgeons and other senior Podiatrists in the field. Peter is also currently pursuing further studies in endorsement to widen his scope of practice. In his spare time, Peter plays soccer and loves to do weightlifting.
Lilian the Co-founder and Director of Super Foot Podiatry graduated from Latrobe University with a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Masters of Podiatric Practice. She comes from a family of medical professionals and has always been passionate about improving the quality of life of patients. Lilian enjoys all aspects of podiatry with a special interest in diabetic foot and sports injuries. She also has thorough knowledge about footwear having worked within the footwear industry. When she’s not in the clinic, she is either out hiking or Volunteering. She is also fluent in Arabic and French.
Lukas is an energetic physiotherapist who has completed a Master of Physiotherapy along with a Master of Public Health. This double degree equips him with an in-depth knowledge of physical conditions, understanding of population health and strong interventional skills. Lukas has a passion for optimising physical health and wellbeing; and values a thorough diagnosis to guide contemporary evidence-based treatment. He has a keen interest in shoulder, knee and spinal conditions and is dedicated to ensuring that his patients receive the highest level of care. Outside of the clinic Lukas plays soccer for Old Xaverians, traveling to new countries and spending quality time with family and friends.
Niki is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with an impressive array of qualifications under her belt, including a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology, Bachelor of Exercise & Sports Science to name a few. What sets Niki apart as an Exercise Physiologist is her unwavering dedication to helping people find their exercise motivation and achieve their health goals. On top of this, Niki also has an incredible amount of experience in first aid and as a sports trainer. Niki currently works with St John Ambulance and the Western Bulldogs with the AFLW/VFLW teams. But Niki is more than just a fitness guru. She is also an avid traveler and has hiked to Mt Everest Base Camp, volunteered in Mozambique, taught first aid in rural areas of Tanzania, and conquered Mt Kilimanjaro.
Sally Mason is an experienced myotherapist who enjoys helping clients find their way back to pain free, comfortable movement. Sally holds an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy, Certificates in Sports Massage, Pregnancy Massage and holds a current Sports Trainer Level 1 qualification with Sports Medicine Australia. She teaches Myotherapy students at the Melbourne Institute of Massage and Myotherapy in Heidelberg, and is the Medic Coordinator for Diamond Creek Womens Junior Football Club after being involved as medic in her son and both daughters’ football teams over the past eight years. Sally has a special interest in hip pain management, having completed additional training in post hip arthroscopy rehabilitation. Attending conferences, courses and webinars centred around hip preservation, Sally keeps her knowledge current. Her further professional development covers pain management, neuroplasticity, and functional and efficient movement. She can assist with most soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament) based injuries or issues, and will customise each appointment. Sally has a wide and varied network of trusted professionals for appropriate cross referrals.
Joanne Vanderhaar graduated from MIMT with an Associate Diploma in Myotherapy. She has extensive experience working with elite athletes, having previously worked with the NRL’s Melbourne Storm and VFL’s Box Hill Hawks. She is currently employed as a Myotherapist with the AFL’s Hawthorn Football Club and the AFLW’s Western Bulldogs. She has a keen interest in finding out the “why” when it comes to dysfunctions and works to address causative factors that have led to an injury, dysfunction or pain. She has undertaken further studies with Joanne Elphinston from the JEMS movement programme to build her knowledge of functional movement. Joanne has a particular interest in lower back issues, hips and headaches and loves working with a diverse range of clients. Each clients treatment is tailored to the individual with client and therapist working together to improve movement, reduce pain and enhance clients lives.
