Sarah completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) at the University of South Australia in 2009. Sarah began her professional career working in vocational rehabilitation supporting adults to return to work. Sarah then spent 9 years in a community-based role, working with clients 0-18 years with a range of physical and developmental conditions. Through this role, Sarah found a passion for physical rehabilitation of the upper limb and has gained specialist skills in this area. Sarah has also recently worked at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in the Paediatric Rehabilitation Department, providing intensive rehabilitation programs for children and adolescents following an acute decline in function relating to an injury, illness or surgery. Sarah is passionate about developing collaborative working relationships with her clients and their families. She uses client’s strengths and interests to ensure therapy is engaging and meaningful. Erin completed her Masters in Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia in 2010. Erin started her professional career in the UK where she worked as an OT in the acute hospital setting. Working within orthopaedics, geriatrics and surgical rehabilitation developing her skills in discharge planning, equipment prescription and functional retraining. Upon returning to Adelaide in 2012 Erin began working in adult rehabilitation within the subacute and community settings. Erin gained experience working with people with neurological conditions, burns and amputations and orthopedic conditions. This progressed Erin’s skills within equipment prescription and developed her passion for home modifications. Within this service Erin also provided functional upper limb re-training, spasticity management and splinting prescription. For the past 4 years Erin has been working in the paediatric disability sector working with people with severe complex physical disabilities including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Rett syndrome and muscular dystrophy. Erin worked within an assistive technology team completing complex equipment and home modification assessments and prescription within the NDIA framework. Currently on maternity leave until 2024 Amy completed her Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons) at Flinders University in 2004. She began her professional career at a small private practice working with children with speech and language difficulties and delays before moving to work for a Not-For-Profit service provider in the disability sector. Since then Amy has worked with children and adults with a wide range of conditions and disabilities, including cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome and motor neurone disease. She founded Wayfinder Disability Services in 2018. Amy has particular skills, knowledge and passion for working with people who have complex communication needs (limited or no functional speech), physical disabilities and a need for Assistive Technology. Amy has extensive knowledge of a wide range of AAC systems and technologies including: PODD (direct and alternate access), Proloquo2go, Minspeak, iPad based AAC apps, switch access AAC systems and eyegaze technology. Amy is committed to working with people and their support networks to identify and use the best system/s for their needs.
Abigail completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at UniSA in 2006. Since graduating, she has worked for a Not-for-Profit service provider in the disability sector, gaining significant experience with physical disability, rehabilitation and assistive technology. Over the course of her career, Abigail has worked in various areas, including sub-acute rehabilitation after acquired disability or surgery, aquatic therapy, and early intervention services for infants and children. She has most recently worked to provide assistive technology assessments and prescriptions for those with complex needs and physical disabilities. Abigail has extensive and up-to-date knowledge of suitable assistive technology to achieve mobility or positioning goals. Abigail has a special interest in paediatric disability, having worked extensively in the physical management of cerebral palsy and other movement disorders, spina bifida, developmental delay, acquired disability and neuromuscular conditions such as muscular dystrophy. Abby strives to create engaging, enjoyable therapy sessions with clear outcomes. Working collaboratively with other disciplines, she is passionate about helping clients achieve their goals in a holistic way. She is happy to see clients of any age. Mel completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at UniSA in 2002. Since graduating she has worked primarily with children with physical disabilities in the not for profit sector. Mel worked for many years in a team dedicated to providing assistive technologies to people living with disabilities. She has developed particular skill and interest in equipment prescription, including manual and powered wheelchairs, seating systems, walkers, standing frames and other mobility / positioning equipment. She enjoys the problem solving, collaboration and eye for detail required in this type of work, and the many functional benefits that appropriate equipment can have on a persons quality of life. Mel enjoys working with children and their families in a goal directed way. In more recent years Mel has worked as a pilates instructor, completing her APPI matwork and equipment training, and gaining certification for matwork.
