Meet Carmel, her Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. Best described as passionate and committed, Carmel’s belief in exceptional women’s health care, coupled with her drive and determination for a better way, is what has made her a reality. Carmel’s optimism and enthusiasm for life is contagious. She works tirelessly, with genuine compassion and love at the core of all she does and as a result those around her feel trusted, safe and supported. Carmel specialises in all aspects of obstetric care with a particular interest in high-risk obstetrics, pre-pregnancy planning and optimisation of gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis and PCOS in preparation for pregnancy. As a gynecological advanced laparoscopic surgeon, Carmel manages a range of gynecological conditions, including chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis, ovarian cyst treatment and prevention as well as pelvic organ prolapse, vaginal reconstruction and repair. She also manages a range of general gynecological conditions including abnormal uterine bleeding and PCOS, abnormal cervical screening tests and colposcopy. Carmel also has a keen interest in mature women's health and menopause. Carmel has two great passions in life, her work and her family. She lives by the motto, ‘if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life’. She believes in the importance of creating, building and maintaining strong relationships. This, combined with her extensive experience, clinical intuition and priority for an individualised, collaborative approach, results in an unparalleled level of care. When not at her, Carmel is a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and a friend — throwing herself into each of these roles with the same enthusiasm, passion and love she applies to her clinical practice. She has a husband she adores who reminds her to not take life too seriously, as well as four gorgeous children. She embraces the craziness that is her life and loves nothing more than entertaining a full house—BBQ on, music playing and kids creating a storm!
Meet Laura, her Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. We describe Laura as caring, compassionate, thorough, and committed. Her holistic and patient focused approach along with her warm manner makes her extremely popular with both patients and staff alike. Laura’s specialties include obstetrics (both general and high risk), pre-pregnancy care and all aspects of gynaecology; from advanced laparoscopic surgery to the assessment and treatment of chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, fertility issues, ovarian cysts, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, prolapse, vaginal repair, abnormal cervical screening, colposcopy, and menopause. Having completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery through the University of Adelaide and subsequent specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Laura embarked on further training in high-risk obstetrics and gynaecological advanced laparoscopic surgery through the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Laura is passionate about improving health outcomes for women at all different stages of their life and feels privileged to have the opportunity to look after women during their pregnancy care and be involved in the joy of the birth of their children. When not at her, Laura can be found on a tennis court, spending time with her friends and family (including her husband, two daughters and Labrador) or holidaying—usually on a beach. She also loves getting over to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula to visit family.
