Dr Juliana
Director, Physiotherapist & Yoga Teacher, Centred Ground

A physiotherapist, yoga teacher, perpetual learner, ever curious, and chronic perfectionist. I am passionate about health, life, the human body and every experience that relates to these. I have been working with people and movement for almost 20 years and it’s my passion to connect with people and to educate, empower and inspire you with the know how to lead a healthy, happy & peaceful life. A healthy body has always been a precious commodity in my mind and as a graduating young physiotherapist, I understood the importance of exercise and eating well to maintain health. What I didn’t realise, was that the health of our minds was just as, if not, more important. I learnt this the hard way…the result of my high desire to achieve, with part time studies on top of full-time work, the challenges of maintaining a long-distance relationship and interrupted sleep patterns was mental illness in the form of anxiety. I am lucky in my life that I have a great support network of family and friends and an open-minded GP who thinks laterally. My journey back to wellness was by slowing down and finding ‘Centred Ground’ through a regular yoga and mindfulness practice, good nutrition, sleep and connection within the community. Graduating Physiotherapy in 2005, I’ve had such varied experience- managing general and work-related musculoskeletal disorders, sporting and acute orthopaedic injury, upper limb injuries and chronic pain conditions. But my greatest learning and understanding of the connectedness of the human body and mind has come from my own personal experiences and my studies and practice in Iyengar yoga over the past 12 years. Prior to my yoga journey, I trained in the Clinical Pilates method and have also completed advanced training in dry needling, occupational health, Anatomy Trains Structural Integration and Connect Therapy with Dr LJ Lee. I’m currently completing further studies in Women’s Health Physiotherapy. The human body amazes me, people amaze me. I love that I get to educate and inspire good health, great movement and positive changes in people. We're a never-ending puzzle - there's always something more to learn or understand. And I love that moment when the penny drops for someone & they're able to move pain-free and return to the things they love.

Mr Sam
Physiotherapist, sportsmed

Locally born and raised in Adelaide, I studied a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia and completed my studies in 2012. I have a 5 month old daughter and share the same first and last name with my wife. Prior to joining the sportsmed team, I spent 4 years in Katherine in the Northern Territory working in private practice. The rural location provided opportunity that I would otherwise never have seen. Before this, I was in Adelaide working in private practice and was involved with lots of different sporting clubs. I love being able to make a significant positive difference in someone’s life. Having the opportunity to help people rehabilitate from injury and enabling them to return to the things they enjoy doing is something that makes it easy to turn up to work every day. I also enjoy working with anything to do with sport. I love talking sport and helping people return to sport.

Matt
Physiotherapist, Body Matters Physio

Matt is the physio you will see at Body Matters Physio. "I believe each person is different, and that it is my job to identify the reasons in your body and environment that lead to the end result- you being unhappy due to injury and pain. In my seventeen years of experience as a Musculo-skeletal physiotherapist in Adelaide, I have found that a great assessment is extremely important. Assessment involves asking the right questions, and listening to you. This lets me know the nature of your problem, what to look at in more detail, and formulate a plan on how to help you out. A thorough physical examination needs to look at your local problem, but also the way your whole body is functioning so I can find things that are contributing to you developing or maintaining pain or dysfunction. I like to find the causes of a problem, and work with you take that cause away, the end result being better postures, easier movements, less injury, less pain and a better functioning body. Our bodies constantly adapt to strain, stresses, load and trauma, and eventually something's gotta give, and that's when you feel the pain. I want to help your pains ease, as well as the things in your body that aren't functioning well that have lead to you experiencing pain. This understanding of the body has lead my practice to incorporate various techniques and assessment you may not have found with other physiotherapists- read more about these techniques on this website. As a passionate practitioner, I have a dedication to keep learning and developing my own skills to make sure I maximise results for my clients."

Ms Amy
Physiotherapist, The Physio Clinic

Amy graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2022. Since graduating she has gained over 2 years experience working in private practice and hospital settings. Growing up as an international gymnast, Amy had her fair share of sporting injuries and saw first hand the role a physio plays in not only the rehabilitation of these injuries but also in supporting athletes through difficult times. Her gymnastics career alongside her interest in human anatomy and physiology sparked an interest in becoming a physio. She began her career working as a rotational physiotherapist in a large acute hospital and worked with stroke, oncology, respiratory and musculoskeletal clients. She also worked in a Women’s and Men’s health and continence private practice for two years. Amy’s treatment philosophy is centred around restoring movement, function and quality of life in clients and focuses on empowering her clients to manage their condition and achieve their goals. She enjoys staying up to date with the latest research and so she can incorporate evidence-based practices in her treatment with clients. Amy’s areas of interest include; Women’s Health (Continence, Prolapse, Pregnancy and Post-Partum), Men’s Health (Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation in Prostate Cancer), Pelvic floor Assessment, Acute Rehab, Orthopaedic Rehabilitation post surgery.
