Dr Juliana
Director, Physiotherapist & Yoga Teacher, Centred Ground

A physiotherapist, yoga teacher, perpetual learner, ever curious, and chronic perfectionist. I am passionate about health, life, the human body and every experience that relates to these. I have been working with people and movement for almost 20 years and it’s my passion to connect with people and to educate, empower and inspire you with the know how to lead a healthy, happy & peaceful life. A healthy body has always been a precious commodity in my mind and as a graduating young physiotherapist, I understood the importance of exercise and eating well to maintain health. What I didn’t realise, was that the health of our minds was just as, if not, more important. I learnt this the hard way…the result of my high desire to achieve, with part time studies on top of full-time work, the challenges of maintaining a long-distance relationship and interrupted sleep patterns was mental illness in the form of anxiety. I am lucky in my life that I have a great support network of family and friends and an open-minded GP who thinks laterally. My journey back to wellness was by slowing down and finding ‘Centred Ground’ through a regular yoga and mindfulness practice, good nutrition, sleep and connection within the community. Graduating Physiotherapy in 2005, I’ve had such varied experience- managing general and work-related musculoskeletal disorders, sporting and acute orthopaedic injury, upper limb injuries and chronic pain conditions. But my greatest learning and understanding of the connectedness of the human body and mind has come from my own personal experiences and my studies and practice in Iyengar yoga over the past 12 years. Prior to my yoga journey, I trained in the Clinical Pilates method and have also completed advanced training in dry needling, occupational health, Anatomy Trains Structural Integration and Connect Therapy with Dr LJ Lee. I’m currently completing further studies in Women’s Health Physiotherapy. The human body amazes me, people amaze me. I love that I get to educate and inspire good health, great movement and positive changes in people. We're a never-ending puzzle - there's always something more to learn or understand. And I love that moment when the penny drops for someone & they're able to move pain-free and return to the things they love.

Belinda
Facilitator and Physiotherapist, Human.Kind

My interest in exercise and the human body first drew me into the world of physiotherapy, but it’s the connection to the human being that has kept me passionate and motivated to thrive in this industry. As a surfer, runner and all-round dabbler in activities (bike riding, swimming, skateboarding- you name it!) I have a good understanding of how the body moves, and have also worked through a few injuries myself! Our bodies are incredible entities that move, heal and adapt to the demands of our ever changing lives, and although we are all unique with different physical, mental and environmental demands, it is these three constructs to which I base my physiotherapy management on. My experience in rehabilitation at the hospital, aged care and private practice has given me insight to a variety of different stages of mobility and backgrounds. Whether we are working towards a marathon, or taking the first few steps after surgery, it is my aim to guide, empower and help you enjoy the magic of movement. You can expect to gain a deeper understanding of your body, to heal your body through knowledge and movement and to explore ways to adapt and progress toward your goals, far beyond the immediate issue or injury. Say yes to any adventure.

Founder, Self Physiotherapy, Self Physiotherapy

A physiotherapist with more than 11 years’ experience, I was inspired to gain a deeper understanding of pelvic and reproductive health over 8 years ago after the conception of my first child. I founded Self Physiotherapy as I noticed a gap in the South Australian market for pelvic health physiotherapy aimed at those experiencing low pelvic health literacy (with or without pelvic health dysfunctions). My drive allows me to continuously exceed patient expectations and deliver the highest quality level of care. I am passionate about education, where I aim to empower people to feel autonomous and self-confident in the decisions about their body. I work closely with a collection of specialised health practitioners and, through continued education, ensure my clients are provided with the most up to date, evidence based, physiotherapy advice and management available for pelvic and reproductive health concerns. I also work at the Women’s and Children’s hospital where I provide clinical support for all patients of gynaecological and reproductive concerns. This experience has given me the opportunity to take a holistic approach in providing healthcare to diverse demographics. My greatest attributes as a physiotherapist are my passion, drive, and attention to detail. I am empathetic, compassionate, and inclusive, providing a safe space free of judgement. Your self is a unique self, and your concerns are unique to you.

Team is always very supportive. Support with time off for moving into house, wedding etc. last year was appreciated a lot. Support with goal setting personally and professionally is always good and to have a mentor give their opinion on things they’ve been through personally. Always nice to get recognised through shoutouts for something personally in huddle or on slack too!

I enjoy the frequent touch base with 1:1 sessions as well as also going through case studies or continual PD on a weekly basis which helps keep the evidence front of mind. I like that we have the ability to bring surgeons or specialists into the clinic to speak about current best practices too. I also enjoy that at times there have been personal development focuses so not always professional development but also trying to develop the person you are and not just the physio you are.

Matt
Physiotherapist, Body Matters Physio

Matt is the physio you will see at Body Matters Physio. "I believe each person is different, and that it is my job to identify the reasons in your body and environment that lead to the end result- you being unhappy due to injury and pain. In my seventeen years of experience as a Musculo-skeletal physiotherapist in Adelaide, I have found that a great assessment is extremely important. Assessment involves asking the right questions, and listening to you. This lets me know the nature of your problem, what to look at in more detail, and formulate a plan on how to help you out. A thorough physical examination needs to look at your local problem, but also the way your whole body is functioning so I can find things that are contributing to you developing or maintaining pain or dysfunction. I like to find the causes of a problem, and work with you take that cause away, the end result being better postures, easier movements, less injury, less pain and a better functioning body. Our bodies constantly adapt to strain, stresses, load and trauma, and eventually something's gotta give, and that's when you feel the pain. I want to help your pains ease, as well as the things in your body that aren't functioning well that have lead to you experiencing pain. This understanding of the body has lead my practice to incorporate various techniques and assessment you may not have found with other physiotherapists- read more about these techniques on this website. As a passionate practitioner, I have a dedication to keep learning and developing my own skills to make sure I maximise results for my clients."

Mr Sam
Physiotherapist, sportsmed

Locally born and raised in Adelaide, I studied a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia and completed my studies in 2012. I have a 5 month old daughter and share the same first and last name with my wife. Prior to joining the sportsmed team, I spent 4 years in Katherine in the Northern Territory working in private practice. The rural location provided opportunity that I would otherwise never have seen. Before this, I was in Adelaide working in private practice and was involved with lots of different sporting clubs. I love being able to make a significant positive difference in someone’s life. Having the opportunity to help people rehabilitate from injury and enabling them to return to the things they enjoy doing is something that makes it easy to turn up to work every day. I also enjoy working with anything to do with sport. I love talking sport and helping people return to sport.

Titled Continence & Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Life Cycle Physiotherapy

I am a Titled Continence & Women’s Health Physiotherapist with over 20 years’ experience, a Pilates instructor and Mum of 2 kids (who are now both taller than me). I am passionate about all aspects of women’s health, and love helping women to be their best, at all stages of their lives. I have had an interest in women’s health since university, but it was after having my own kids (2004, 2006) that I finally had the chance to work increasingly more in this field. So great was my interest in women’s health that I undertook the rigorous “titling” process, and I became a Titled Continence & Women’s Health Physiotherapist in 2016. I have an enormous amount of experience in treating a broad range of women’s health conditions, including incontinence, prolapse, pre/postnatal conditions and pelvic pain. It is such a great feeling to be able to help women make a positive change in their health, so they can enjoy their social lives, work, exercise and sexual relationships once again. I particularly love helping women get back to health and fitness through exercise. I have over 15 years’ experience in developing and teaching Pilates and other exercise programs to women of all ages. It is such a privilege to be able to follow women during their pregnancy, through the postpartum period and into the next pregnancy. That’s how I got the inspiration for my business name – seeing that whole cycle of life with my patients.
